Become a Voluntary Sector Representative

Are you interested in …

  • Giving a voice to the voluntary sector who work with children & young people?
  • Presenting collective views to Strategic Partnership planning groups and feeding back to the wider voluntary sector?
  • Building strong positive working relationships with Partners?
Voluntary Sector Representatives work as part of a team, with support from the Children & Young People’s Facilitator, to carry out 3 main tasks:

Ø  Participate in the strategic planning and policies for services for children  & young people
Ø  Actively seek the views of the voluntary sector and community groups on key agenda items
Ø  Provide verbal and written feedback for dissemination to the wider voluntary sector, via the Children & Young People’s Facilitator.

The structure of the Children & Young People’s Plan provides a thematic focus to the planning process.  There are places for Voluntary Sector Representatives to attend on the following Thematic Planning Groups:

  • Integrated Disability Services
  • Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing
  • Family & Behaviour Support

If you wish to become more involved with the strategic planning process of the Children & Young People's Partnership and the Local Service Board you can!  PAVO facilitates Voluntary Sector Representatives to sit on multi-agency planning groups to feed in the voice of the 3rd Sector.

We use mainly, virtual networks now, to canvass views coming from 3rd sector/voluntary groups and to feed into planning groups.  Then once the meeting has been held we can look at the implications of any decisions and inform the sector of developments.

It is a special role for special people and you do need to be available during the working week to attend the meetings.  Some training is available and you will have support.  If you are interested please have a look at the person specification and role description for further details.
