Competency Framework for Information, Advice and Assistance

Important consultation for organisations working in IAA.

Social Care Wales is working to develop competency framework for Information, Advice and Assistance (IAA) workers.

This will help to ensure better, more consistent Information, Advice and Assistance service for people who use it by defining the shared expectations of the knowledge, skills and performance of the staff providing the services. In turn, this will help to better identify training needs, and ways of meeting training needs.

The final draft of the competency framework will go to the Board of Social Care Wales in March 2018, and be available early in the new financial year.

Social Care Wales has commissioned Jacky Drysdale to work collaboratively with local authorities to develop the competency framework.

The development work has already been informed by:
·         Work to gather information about the provision of the IAA service from local authority service/training representatives.
·         Three consultation workshops with local authority service/training representatives.

We have developed a draft competency framework and would now like to consult widely on the proposed competency areas and outcomes. Please click on the link below to participate in the consultation. Please also feel free to forward this email widely. The consultation questionnaire will take you about 15 minutes to complete.

The link will remain open until mid/late January 2018.

If you have any questions about this work, please don’t hesitate to contact Jacky Drysdale (Jacky.Drysdale@socialcare.wales phone 01745 586 855 or 01248 723 903).
