HYFFORDDIANT: Ymwybyddiaeth Ddiwylliannol wrth Ddiogelu Plant | TRAINING: Cultural Awareness in Safeguarding Children

Ymwybyddiaeth Ddiwylliannol wrth Ddiogelu Plant

12 Hydref 2016, Caerdydd -
16 Tachwedd 2016, Y Rhyl - Archebwch Ar-lein

Mae deall gwahaniaethau diwylliannol yn elfen bwysig o waith effeithiol gyda theuluoedd a phlant. Gall ymarferwyr a rheolwyr fod yn amharod i ymdrin â phryderon ynghylch lles plant oherwydd eu bod yn ofni cael eu cyhuddo o fod yn hiliol, yn anoddefgar neu'n rhagfarnllyd. Mae sicrhau cydbwysedd rhwng sensitifrwydd diwylliannol a gwneud dyfarniadau Gorllewinol ynghylch lles plant yn anodd.

Nod y cwrs hwn yw cynyddu ymwybyddiaeth o hunaniaeth ddiwylliannol, ethnig a chrefyddol wrth ystyried materion diogelu mewn teuluoedd mudol, rhai sy'n ceisio lloches a ffoaduriaid. Bydd yn cynyddu'r ddealltwriaeth o risgiau diogelu penodol mewn teuluoedd a chymunedau ac yn meithrin hyder wrth ymdrin â materion diogelu gyda theuluoedd.

Mae'r cwrs ar gyfer unrhyw un sy'n gweithio gyda theuluoedd sy'n ceisio lloches, ffoaduriaid, neu deuluoedd mudol eraill BAME, mewn sefydliadau statudol, gofal cymdeithasol, iechyd neu addysg, grwpiau cymunedol a chymunedau o ffoaduriaid, gan gynnwys Dechrau'n Deg, Teuluoedd yn Gyntaf, Cymunedau yn Gyntaf, IFST ac ati.

Bydd y cwrs hwn yn cynnwys:
  • Amddiffyn plant trwy lens ddiwylliannol
  • Persbectifau diwylliannol ar fagu plant ymhlith teuluoedd o fewnfudwyr sy'n dod i Gymru
  • Llurgunio Organau Rhywiol Merched, Trais ar sail 'Anrhydedd', Priodas dan Orfod, Cam-drin sy'n gysylltiedig â Chred mewn Dewiniaeth
  • Hybu dulliau rhianta cadarnhaol ymhlith teuluoedd o fewnfudwyr
Ynghylch yr Hyfforddwr
Mae Cheryl Martin wedi gweithio gyda cheiswyr lloches dros nifer o flynyddoedd ac wedi datblygu'r cwrs yma drwy ei phrofiad o weithio gyda theuluoedd a gwarchod plant o fewn y cyd-destun diwylliannol.
Yn y gorffennol bu'n gweithio fel Rheolwr Gwasanaethau Plant gyda Chymorth i Fenywod yng Nghymru, y sefydliad dros gam-drin yn y cartref. Mae hefyd wedi hyfforddi ar osodiad cyfiawnder ieuenctid. Mae Cheryl yn gwnselydd cymwysedig ac yn ymarferydd datrys gwrthdaro yn gweithio fel cyfryngwr annibynnol dros nifer o flynyddoedd. Roedd yn ymddiriedolwr ac yn gadeirydd ar ddwy elusen dros y 12 mlynedd ddiwethaf.
Fel Hyfforddwr Achrededig Lefel 3 mae Cheryl wedi cyflwyno hyfforddiant mewn cam-drin yn y cartref a diogelu plant i gynulleidfa eang, yn cynnwys hyfforddiant aml-asiantaeth, statudol, gwirfoddol a phroffesiynol.

"Mae wedi bod yn ddiwrnod hynod ddifyr a llawn gwybodaeth - diolch"

"Cwrs diddorol iawn, y gwnes i ei fwynhau'n fawr. Hyfforddwr rhagorol. Diolch"

Cultural Awareness in
Safeguarding Children
 translation
12 October 2016, Cardiff - Book Online
16 November 2016, Rhyl - Book Online

A one-day course

Understanding cultural differences is an important component in effective working with families and children. Practitioners and managers can be reluctant to address child welfare concerns because they fear being accused of racism, intolerance or prejudice. Getting the balance right between cultural sensitivity and making Westernised judgements on child welfare is difficult.

The aim of this course is to raise awareness of cultural, ethnic and religious identities when considering safeguarding issues within asylum seeking, refugee and migrant families. It will increase the understanding of particular safeguarding risks within families and communities and enhance confidence in addressing safeguarding issues with families.

The course is for anyone working with asylum seeking, refugee or other BAME migrant families, in statutory, social care, health or education, community groups and refugee community organisations, including Flying Start, Families First, Communities First, IFST, etc...

This course will include:
  • Child protection through a cultural lens
  • Cultural perspectives on parenting in immigrant families arriving in Wales
  • Female Genital Mutilation, 'Honour' Violence, Forced Marriage, Abuse Linked to a belief in Witchcraft
  • Promoting positive parenting in immigrant families
About the Trainer

Cheryl is a qualified counsellor and conflict resolution practitioner, working as an independent mediator for a number of years. She has been a Trustee and chair of two charities over the past 12 years.

The ABC Model to dynamic risk management / Y Model ABC ar gyfer rheoli risg deinamig

The ABC Model to
dynamic risk management

This guidance paper provides a summary of a detailed risk-benefit assessment that considers common but potentially hazardous play behaviours displayed by children during staffed play sessions.

Play Wales, in partnership with Simon Bazley (Playful Futures), worked with Wrexham’s Play Development Team to develop an approach to behaviour based risk-benefit assessment.  Further work between the play development team and staff from The Land adventure playground has led to the development of The ABC Model for the Dynamic Risk Management of Common but Potentially Hazardous Play Behaviours.

The guidance paper is intended to support dynamic risk assessment by practitioners when working with playing children. It recognises that, whilst children’s play behaviours can be complex and present themselves in many different forms, the ways in which serious harm might occur are likely to be similar across different forms of behaviour. For example, the ways injury could occur, and the factors that practitioners need to take into consideration, are likely to be similar whether children are climbing a tree, swinging on a rope or sliding down a mud bank.

As a result we have developed guidance to support risk-benefit assessment that can be applied to a wide range of behaviours – rather than having many different activity-based assessments that in practice duplicate one another. This guidance is intended to complement other risk-benefit assessment systems.

It is written by Mike Barclay (Wrexham Play Development team), Simon Bazley (Playful Futures) and Dave Bullough (The Land) and published by Play Wales.

Y Model ABC ar gyfer
rheoli risg deinamig

Mae’r papur cyfarwyddyd yma’n cyflwyno crynodeb o asesiad risg-budd manwl sy’n ystyried ymddygiadau chwarae cyffredin, ond allai fod yn beryglus, y bydd plant yn eu harddangos yn ystod sesiynau chwarae wedi eu staffio.

Gweithiodd Chwarae Cymru, mewn partneriaeth gyda Simon Bazley (Playful Futures), â Thîm Datblygu Chwarae Wrecsam i ddatblygu dull asesu risg-budd ar sail ymddygiad. Yn sgîl gwaith pellach gan y tîm datblygu chwarae a staff maes chwarae antur The Land, datblygwyd y Model ABC ar gyfer rheoli risg deinamig yng nghyswllt ymddygiad chwarae cyffredin a all fod yn beryglus.

Bwriedir i’r papur canllaw yma gefnogi asesu risg deinamig gan ymarferwyr wrth weithio gyda phlant sy’n chwarae. Mae'n cydnabod, er y gall ymddygiad chwarae plant fod yn gymhleth a chymryd sawl ffurf wahanol, ei bod hi'n debygol y bydd yr union ffyrdd y gallai niwed difrifol ddigwydd yn debyg ar draws gwahanol fathau o ymddygiad. Er enghraifft, mae’r ffyrdd y gallai anaf ddigwydd, a’r ffactorau y bydd angen i ymarferwyr eu hystyried, yn debygol o fod yn debyg waeth os yw’r plentyn yn dringo coeden, siglo ar raff neu’n llithro i lawr torlan fwdlyd.

O ganlyniad rydym wedi datblygu cyfarwyddyd i gefnogi asesu risg-budd y gellir ei ddefnyddio gydag ystod eang o ymddygiad yn hytrach na llawer o asesiadau ar sail gweithgaredd sydd, ar lefel ymarferol, yn dyblygu ei gilydd. Bwriedir i’r papur cyfarwyddyd yma ategu systemau asesu risg-budd eraill.

Ysgrifennwyd gan Mike Barclay (Tîm Datblygu Chwarae Wrecsam), Simon Bazley (Playful Futures) a Dave Bullough (The Land) ac fe’i cyhoeddwyd gan Chwarae Cymru.

An opportunity to express your views on the approach to developing a new suite of Health and Social Care and Childcare (including playwork) qualifications [Levels 1-5].

Dear Colleague,
In July 2016 Qualifications Wales published its report on the sector review of qualifications and the qualification system in Health and Social Care (including Childcare and Playwork). In the report Qualifications Wales committed to overseeing the development of a new suite of qualifications to meet the needs of learners in Wales.
Having considered how it might best meet this commitment Qualifications Wales is now considering imposing a ‘restriction’ on a new suite of qualifications for the sector. Should it choose to follow this course of action, from September 2019 only one approved version of each of those qualifications would be approved for use on funded programmes of learning in Wales.
Qualifications Wales has produced a consultation document to explain the options being considered. The consultation document and survey questions can be accessed here.
This consultation is an opportunity for awarding bodies, learning providers and any other interested parties to provide feedback on their preferred approach.
Play Wales is keen to encourage a considered response from everyone in the playwork sector as these proposed changes could have a significant impact on the delivery and attainment of playwork qualifications in Wales. Furthermore the decision in Wales could in the longer term, have an impact on the playwork sector throughout the UK
Please find the Play Wales’ draft consultation response attached. To ensure we are most effectively representing the views of our sector, we would welcome comments to help inform our final response by email to workforce@playwales.org.uk by Wednesday 28 September.
You may also wish to use this draft and our final response to help you in preparing your response.
The consultation closes at 6.00pm on 5 October 2016.
