FREE TRAINING Level 2 Award - P3 Playwork Principles into Practice available - PLEASE BOOK NOW

Level 2 Award – P3 Playwork Principles into Practice

The Level 2 Award forms the first part of the Diploma and is a stand alone qualification, although it does not qualify anyone to practice as a playworker on its own. (the full Diploma is needed for this)  It is an ideal first step for anyone without a current playwork qualification or who holds a qualification in a related area eg an early years qualification.

Dyfodol Powys Futures are planning to run a course in Newtown at the Newtown Integrated Family Centre starting on Thursday 26th June 10 – 3.30, and then the following 4 Thursdays.

The course consists of 5 taught days plus 32 hours of playwork practice.  The practical has to be in a play setting somewhere with children aged between 5-12 where they can freely choose their activities - this can be after school clubs, play days, play schemes etc.

This will be a free course.

It is also possible for you to attend the course and not be assessed although this will not count towards the Diploma if ever you wanted to carry on to that.

If anyone is interested please complete attached form and return.
See Play Wales website for further information on the P3 qualification. http://www.playwales.org.uk/eng/p3

Urgent message from Welsh Government

From Dr Ruth Hussey, Chief Medical Officer for Wales

INCIDENTS POTENTIALLY LINKED TO SUBSTANCE MISUSE

An alert has been issued in respect of stimulants which have been implicated in the deaths of two people in the last 4 days and  others in the last 4 weeks as well as a number of hospitalisations, in Ireland.

While investigations are ongoing into these cases, it is believed that they are as a result of the ingestion of an Ecstasy like substance. Green Apple and Green Rolex, (green pills with an apple or rolex symbol) appear have to been implicated in some of these incidents.  Other stimulants indicated include cocaine, and amphetamines which in some circumstances have been taken in combination. Therefore, those who take drugs should be specifically warned of potential dangers linked to these substances or using drugs in combinations.

Two opportunities for engagement

We are seeking people who are interested in giving feedback on the website during its development.
Participation Cymru has been asked to help facilitate engagement with potential users of a new website called 'Care Wales On-line' that is being developed by the Care Council for Wales and the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales.
We are seeking people who are interested in giving feedback on the website during its development. Please find a link to the website and to an on-line survey that can be circulated to interested parties.

This is a chance for you to tell HIW in their inspection and regulation role, how the services that you, people like you, your families and friends receive can be improved.
HIW carries out its work on behalf of Welsh Ministers, and although they are part of a department within the Welsh Government there are a number of safeguards in place to make sure they can operate independently.
Central to HIW's values is a commitment to give people using healthcare services, their families and carers a real voice. One of the ways we will do this is by providing opportunities to get involved with HIW's work through a National Advisory Board.
Participation Cymru, has been asked to assist in advising and supporting the establishment of a National Advisory Board.
Please contact Ian Williams HIW@wales.gsi.gov.uk or click here for more information.
